Ask anyone and they’ll tell you that quantum computing and artificial intelligence are the fastest developing and emerging technologies that are going to be revolutionizing our world. Make sure you don’t fall behind. In this camp, you will explore quantum mechanics, build an AI model and learn the basics of one of the most widely used computer languages in the world, Python. Tying it all together: A week-long project in which you have the opportunity to apply your learning.

We all use, think, discuss and learn languages. BUT have you ever wondered how scientists, called linguists, study language and how computational linguists use what we know about language to build and assess language models. Maybe you have thought about: How language emerges and changes, how adults use language and understand language, how do the things that we know about language contribute to building language technology like ChatGPT, how do language models and artificial intelligence like ChatGPT work?

If so, join us for a workshop focussing on investigating language used by humans and dissecting the way language technology works.

Who?

This camp is for students aged 12 and 13 years.

Cost:

The camp fee is $500 (including taxes).

If the fee is a barrier to your participation, a limited number of bursaries are available for eligible families - please email camps@visst.ca to inquire.

Where?

The Vancouver School for Science and Technology (ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½): 1490 West Broadway, Vancouver.

Additional Notes

  • Students should bring their own laptops but if you want to borrow one from us, we have a limited number available. Please email us to request one.

  • Refund policy: Email us at least 2 weeks (14 days) prior to the start of the camp for a full refund.

  • ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ reserves the right to cancel camps and refund camp fees due to low enrolment. In this event, we will provide as much advance notice as possible.
