Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment provides an opportunity for qualified Eastern Shore high school students to enhance their education by completing college classes while in high school. Students earn credit both for their high school class and an ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ class.

ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½â€™s dual enrollment program serves students in six public schools in Accomack and Northampton County as well as Broadwater Academy, a private institution.

All dual enrollment courses are taught at the college level by instructors who are qualified to teach college classes. As ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ students, dual enrollment students have access to the support of instructors and staff available to all ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ students in addition to support from high school instructors and staff.

All students admitted under this section must demonstrate readiness for college, as determined by placement testing or acceptable scores on standardized examinations recognized by the college and provided in subsequent sections of the college catalog. Eligibility for continued enrollment will be reviewed each term. Public or private high school students or homeschooled students may not enroll in developmental courses.

Grades earned in dual enrollment classes will be reported on ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ transcripts and become part of the student’s permanent college record.

Students should check with their high schools for their dual enrollment policies, such as how ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ tuition is paid and who receives priority when a class is in high demand.

Interested students should contact their high school guidance counselors or ÎÚÑ»´«Ã½ Career Coaches to discuss career interests and possible programs of study.
